4Drive Spain is a booking platform that connects drivers with local vehicle suppliers in Spain. We handle the search and reservation process online, letting you secure a vehicle with a booking advance paid by card. The actual rental agreement is signed when you collect the keys from the supplier at your chosen location.
Our system consolidates availability from multiple local companies operating at airports, city centres, and island hubs. Each supplier manages its own fleet, sets its own terms, and handles vehicle handover and return. We provide the booking interface, voucher, and confirmation details.
Unlike traditional models, many suppliers in our network offer no-deposit options for selected vehicles. This means no card hold or block at pick-up, though excess liability and damage terms still apply as stated in the rental agreement.
The booking process splits into four stages. First, you search by location, dates, and vehicle type on our website. Results show models available from local suppliers, with payment method requirements and deposit terms listed for each vehicle.
Second, you pay a booking advance online using a debit or credit card. This secures your reservation and generates a voucher. The balance is due when you collect the vehicle, with accepted payment methods specified in the voucher and at checkout.
Third, you receive a voucher by email containing supplier contact details, pick-up instructions, and rental terms. The voucher confirms your booking reference, vehicle class, and whether a deposit will be required.
Fourth, you collect the vehicle at the agreed time and location. The supplier checks your driving licence, processes the balance payment, and completes a vehicle condition report. Any pre-existing damage is noted in the rental agreement you sign on-site. Return follows the same process in reverse, with a final inspection and release of any held deposit.
We connect drivers with suppliers in ten Spanish locations. Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Madrid, Valencia, and Girona cover the mainland and Balearic Islands. Tenerife serves the Canary Islands.
Most suppliers operate at both airport terminals and city offices. Pick-up can occur at a rental desk, shuttle-linked car park, or by delivery to your hotel, depending on the supplier and location. Some islands offer port pick-up for ferry arrivals.
Coastal cities and island hubs account for the majority of bookings during summer months. Madrid and Barcelona remain active year-round. Girona serves as a gateway to Costa Brava and the Pyrenees.
A deposit is a temporary card hold or block applied by the supplier at pick-up to cover potential damage, traffic fines, or fuel shortages. This hold can tie up funds for days or weeks, creating inconvenience for travellers managing budgets across accommodation, meals, and activities.
Selected vehicles in our network are available without this card hold. You still sign a rental agreement with defined excess liability, and you remain responsible for damage or violations. The difference is that no funds are frozen on your card during the rental period.
This arrangement works because the supplier assesses risk per vehicle and driver profile. Not all models qualify, and terms vary by supplier. The absence of a deposit does not change your liability under the rental agreement or alter insurance cover.
For vehicles requiring a deposit, the amount and accepted card types are shown at search and confirmed in your voucher. If you hold only a debit card, raising your card limit before travel helps ensure the deposit can be authorised.
